Embracing Change: Equity, Innovation & Social Justice
The EKU College of Education announces and invites you to attend a one day conference on March 1st that will be held in the Perkins Conference Center.
The conference theme is Embracing Change: Equity, Innovation & Social Justice. Breakout sessions will be offered addressing issues in education from P-12 to higher education. Tracks in the following areas will be available: leadership in P-12 education, counseling, equity and inclusion, communication disorders and doctoral studies.
A keynote luncheon address will be offered by Dr. Deneese Jones who is the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She is an engaging speaker who will discuss diversity and leadership in education. We will also present a Real Talk Forum of experts on equity and inclusion moderated by Renee Shaw, KET’s host of Connections with Renee Shaw. In addition, EKU’s Dr. Tom Otieno, Dean of the College of Science, and Dr. Sheila Presley, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, will conduct presentations on STEM and equity and inclusion recruitment and retention challenges.
The communication disorders track will be presenting full day session on Lively Letters with Reading with TLC.
A breakfast pastry bar and a buffet lunch will be provided with registration.
Continuing education credits will be available through EILA, NBCC, and ASHA.
